Commercial site clearance, Mauldeth Road West, South Manchester

This was a huge site clearance in order to make way for the new Chorlton High School, South. We were asked to remove a lot of trees across the site to make way for the new school buildings and infrastructure.

It was a very big job and we worked with ecologists to ensure wildlife was protected in line with legislation during the clearance. Because the site was fenced off and secure, we were able to fell all the trees that were down for removal and leave them on the ground, ready to be processed. Even with a team led by a very experienced arborist, it took us three days to safely fell all the trees.

Once all the trees were safely on the ground, we worked with our approved recycling contractor to process all of the timber. The trees were carried to a ‘whole tree chipper’ by plant machinery. The yellow tractor with grab and orange ‘scorpion’ machine also with grab capability can be seen picking up trees, and branches, and taking them to the whole tree chipper in these pictures. The red ‘whole tree chipper’ also has a grab on board so it can feed itself trees! The trees were chipped onto the back of Eddie Stobart’s wagons and taken away to be recycled into biofuel.

The job was expertly planned and led from start to finish by a very experienced arborist and the team here at Sabre Tree Surgery.
