Big diseased beech tree removal in Heaton moor, Greater Manchester.

This huge beech tree was protected by the tree preservation order. We were asked to inspect it and we could see a huge cavity that had formed in the wound of a large limb removal. The cavity was holding so much water it was leaking out through a crack in the stem. There was also fungus around the base of the tree indicating root decay. An application to remove the tree was raised and approved by the tree officer at Stockport Council. There was just enough access for a crane to assist the removal. The road was closed for the day and the tree was dismantled, section by section and lowered skilfully to the ground. It was loaded shortly after and taken away to be recycled ♻️.
